Open Left Hand
1690 - 1695. Red chalk on blue laid paper. Not on display
The small drawing Open Left Hand is a work of quality and is very representative of the late artist’s style: it is close to the preparatory drawings for the Martyrdom of Saint Andrew and very similar to the left hand of the saint in that painting. It also shares similarities with those of the apostle behind the group of women in the painting of the Assumption of the Virgin in Seville.
