A remarkable women who has done such a marvellous job at the Museum for so many years. I have to thank her very much for her efforts on behalf of the Museum and for accompanying me during those 15 years. She was Secretary to the Director’s Office during Xavier de Salas’s time, I think she arrived when Xavier de Salas was director, and she worked with almost all the directors that succeeded him. When José María Luzón was director she changed position and was made Secretary of the Board of Trustees.
It was there that she found her space for making a big contribution to the Museum by establishing the connection between the everyday work of the Director’s Office and the supervisory role of the Board of Trustees. Also the relationship between the government, represented by the Ministry of Culture. As a result María Dolores has done a great job, occupying an extremely important position which she has carried out very well.
I could say that I was the director of the Museum but the person who directed the director of the Museo del Prado was María Dolores Muruzábal: and not just the Director but also the Board of Trustees.
