The Friends Foundation is another case in point as in the 15 years that I worked at the Museum it went from having 3,000 to more than 30,000 Friends. They did that in an exemplary way and for me it’s a marvellous community which is close to the Museum and helps it materially. But it also creates a critical awareness around the Museum which I think is very interesting and necessary. The fact is that Carlos Zurita as president and Nuria de Miguel as Secretary General, to cite just the two most visible people within the Foundation, really deserve enormous praise for the marvellous project of the Friends.
Director of the Museo del Prado and trustee of the Friends of the Museo del Prado Foundation. He was also assistant director of the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía and is currently director of the Museo de Bellas Artes in Bilbao.
