A Joint Endeavour
María Teresa Dávila Álvarez, Restorer, 1982-2013A Joint Endeavour
María Teresa Dávila Álvarez, Restorer, 1982-2013
I’ve had the opportunity to get to know all the museums. I worked for a while at the art museum in Munich and I have also worked at the Kunsthistorisches Museum. I gradually acquired the things that I thought might make my work easier and that it would be good to have. I brought things back from abroad for the Restoration Workshop. These things were introduced into our work, because I talked to everyone: management, curators, the technical department ... And they spoke to us. It’s been a combined effort, a joint endeavour. It hasn’t been just one thing, and, in this group, I was just one piece. I believe the group is made up of professionals who have been extremely receptive and open. All of this has been important when it comes to carrying out our work.
She works as a restorer at the Museo del Prado, participating in major projects such as the restoration of Las Meninas in 1984, directed by John Brealey (from the Metropolitan Museum of Art) and the restoration of the Adam and Eve panels by Dürer.
