Son of the sculptor Pablo González Velázquez, a number of Antonio’s children also became artists. He trained in Rome with Corrado Giaquinto (1703-1766), achieving a notable command of fresco painting and a mastery of the art of composition and perspective superior to many other Spanish painters of the day.
