Francisco Calvo Serraller, Museum Director, 1993-1994
I believe this is a museum with the widest historical horizon. And, of course, it’s by far the most important museum we have in Spain. This is an art collection that began with the Catholic Monarchs and continued up to Ferdinand VII, encompassing periods of light and shadow. Through the Museum you can really see the history of the country. You can feel a certain emotion, be it a passing emotion.
Director of the Museo del Prado from 1993 to 1994, he was a founding member and Trustee of the Board of the Friends of the Museo del Prado Foundation. Moreover, he was Professor of Art History at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid, the curator of several exhibitions and an art critic.
